Devotional: Undiminished God
"The righteous will never be shaken...He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD. His heart is established (to lean on, to take hold of) ; he will not be afraid." Psalm 112
To fear is to be human. I can't seem to recall a time I had not responded in fear to bad news or worrisome circumstances. But i can recall unforgettable moments where the Spirit just comes and replaces my heavy fears with unexplainable peace and stillness, where my striving ends and His awesome works begin.
This verse challenges me as it teaches me that it IS possible to not be afraid of bad news, as long as I remember that God is the same in good news and bad, that He remains all-powerful and all-loving in EVERY circumstance and that His Godhead is never diminished when life is rough and unforgiving.
Today I am grateful that I have an all-consistent, ever present God who I call as Father.
