Devotional: The Meaning of Life

"Choose life that you and your offspring may live; loving the LORD your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days" -Moses If we are not careful, the meaning of life can totally evade us.we need to bear in mind the importance of connecting (and staying connected) with the Source and Sustainer of life first; and to keep Him above all other preoccupations, for it is God who pours meaning into our very existence.

Christian Quotes for the Week

Image From Ravi Zacharias (Recapture the Wonder) God grants us the means so that we can not only cope with life but so we can celebrate and enjoy life. Many times some retracting is needed before you will start to make progress. and just like missing an exit, you'd need to drive further distance before you can turn around to head in the right direction. Assuming privileges right from the beginning without first exercising the work ethic that they have resulted from is more hazardous for the individual than it is a blessing. In the 70s kids lost their love, they learned everything there was to know about sex and forgot everything there was to know about love and noone had the nerve to tell them there was a difference.

Devotional: God's Word

"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 3:18 If a Christian does not mature in his or her reading, then the Church could end up running the biggest nursery in the world. Ravi Z. The responsibility to grow in faith lies with me. I cannot just lean on Preachers, Teachers, and church gatherings for spiritual growth in knowledge and practice. I must value the Word of God and love it enough to open and really study its truths myself. I pray to have a heart hungry for God's Word.

Devotional: the Holy Spirit

"When the Spirit comes, He will guide you into ALL truth."- Christ "Walk in the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." -Galatians 5 "Flesh can never overcome flesh by pure desire alone." I need the Holy Spirit to guide me into all truth and to produce His fruit in my life so that I may be all that God created and purposed for me to be. Today I praise God, thankful that the Holy Spirit is not some force but a person Who walks alongside of me, leading me and working in me.

Devotional: Wisdom in time of Need

James 1:5 "If you lack wisdom, ask, and it will be given you." When I'm out of wisdom or when I feel I'm in the dark, the Holy Spirit is there to give wisdom and to guide me into all truth (John 16:13) This means, that I can know what I need to understand about Him and His Word. James 1:5 says I must ask in full trust and reliance and God will grant the wisdom that I need to understand and to make decisions that will not go against His Word. I like it that the verse says that when I come, God won't shame, ridicule, or think low of me for not knowing the things I don't know. He knows my limitations, He is not at all surprised so I don't need to hide nor make excuses. When I ask, He will be there to empower and equip me. Today, I pray for diligence and tenderness to come to God so I can grow from ignorance and immaturity.

Devotional: Faith Expressed

Galatians 5 talks about things that can sidetrack a believer from the right faith walk. Verse 7 says the wrong values and beliefs can prevent us from living in obedience to the Truth ("You were running [the race] well; who has interfered and prevented you from obeying the truth?") Verse 6 says, "For [if we are] in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or uncircumcised, but only faith activated and expressed and working through love." A life of faith is rightly demonstrated through love, right love. If love prompts me, then there would be a careful desire to live authentic and right before God and man. If love prompts me, then to see the mind of God and the things that pleases Him become most important than my faulty viewpoints and misplaced longings. If love prompts me, I will be diligent in learning right principles from His Word and grow from ignorance, traditionalism, legalism, hypocrisy, and immaturity. If love prompts me, then to be an encourag

Devotional: Spirituality

“for it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.” Phil 2:13 We have to remember that By our own efforts we cannot produce a truly spiritual life.- Ravi Z. living a true spiritual life is never up to me. I cannot depend upon myself and i don't need to wait for personal inspiration before i get up and live the right kind of life. It is God who works in me. the only question is will I allow Him to work? If I really want to desire and do what pleases Him I must resolutely ask Him then let Him have His way with me. today,i pray for tenderness of heart, yielded and ready.

Devotional: Bankable Promises

ALL the promises of God, IN HIM are YES and AMEN. 2 Cor 1:20 [Resting] in the hope of eternal life, [life] which the ever truthful God Who cannot deceive promised before the world or the ages of time began. Titus 1:2 AMPC God is not a man, that He should tell or act a lie, neither the son of man, that He should feel repentance or compunction [for what He has promised]. Has He said and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken and shall He not make it good? Numbers 23:19 --- God speaks, acts, and promises according to the constancy of His character and untainted, unclouded wisdom. He never says or does anything out of sudden impulse. His promises are never for bribing nor is He ever guilt motivated. His promises are always made to deliver the truest and best intentions He has for His children. Because He is God and He is the One who made the promise, I know there is weight and sureness to His Words. Today, I thank Him for the encouragement and assurance of His promises, of His Word.

Devotional: Worship

Exalt the LORD our God; worship at his footstool! Holy is he! Psalm 99:5 Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker! Psalm 95:6 In worship i look past myself and my affairs. As I am brought to true worship, my eyes become set on The Object of my worship alone, and I spend moments and thoughts appreciating all I've come to know and experience about the greatness and wonder of who my God is. Today, I am thankful that I worship a true, living, and great God who is worthy of all the worship I can give Him. I pray for more growth and understanding so that I can live a life of worship that pleases Him.

Devotional: Truth

Truth... For the christian, truth is indispensable for living. Jesus said when we "know the truth, the truth will make us free." John 8:32 Jesus came "full of grace and truth." He is "truth made flesh." and now "dwells within me." John 1:14 Truth has freed me from damnation and truth keeps me free. Jesus lives in me and the Holy Spirit is alongside of me "guiding me into all truth. " John 16:13 By staying set upon God's truths, I am empowered, I am equipped. I can break free from the bondage of sin, I can cleanse my life and remove strongholds which habitual sins have set upon my life. The vibrant, overcoming life is promised and available for living and enjoying. It isn't just a dream, and it isn't out of reach. I just need to stay in God's truths and walk in it because I can only walk with God if I walk in truth. Today I pray for that to be so in my life.

Devotional: Vantage Point

“Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord who commands armies is with us, The God of Jacob is our stronghold [our refuge]. Psalm 46 Some things seem overwhelmingly large from where we are standing but as we worship God and are taken to new heights, we find ourselves at a vantage point. and things become less overwhelming in light of the goodness and greatness and power of our God.- Louie Giglio I pray to daily recognize and understand that He is God and He is with me.

Devotional: Show Me Your Ways

You are great and do wondrous deeds; You alone are God. Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I may walk and live in Your truth; direct and unite my heart [solely, reverently] to fear and honor Your name. Let me know Your ways that I may know You. Psalm 25:4 --- To know God, I must learn and observe His ways. I must pay attention to His guidance and dealings so I can catch His mind and heart over my life. I can't approach life with self-formulated perception and philosophy. And in order to honor Him, my heart must be undivided, sincerely desiring His pleasure and honor in all I am and do. I pray for a mind and heart that is unclouded and simple, that thinks and feels for God afresh.

Devotional: Fullness of Joy

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11 As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 1 Tim 6:17 ------ the presence and provision of God jointly grant enjoyment. And fullness of joy is sustained in acknowledging Him for His provision during times of plenty and being assured and trusting His unfailing presence in times of want. ”God grants us all the means so that we can have life, cope with life, and enjoy life.” I thank Him for enabling and lasting joy.

Devotional: Counted Worthy

Be on guard, so that your hearts are not weighed down and depressed with the giddiness of debauchery and the nausea of self-indulgence and the worldly worries of life, and then that day [when the Messiah returns] will not come on you unexpectedly. But keep alert at all times praying that you may have the strength and ability [to be found worthy] to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand in the presence of the Son of Man. Luke 21:34-36 The LORD warns me to not allow my  heart to be weighed down by the dizzying & nauseating effect of indulging the flesh, and the distracting effect of worldly cares. Moreso, the Lord Jesus wants me to be watchful and to call for strength and enablement to live a life of worth. I long and pray to be able to stand before Christ, knowing that the life i lived was not a wasted life.

Devotional: The Essence of Gratitude

Know and fully recognize with gratitude that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are his]. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Psalm 100:3 AMP ---- "True Gratitude values a relationship rather than any benefit made possible by the relationship. True gratitude remains even when nothing is received, and one finds the ability to 'trust even when the moment seems devoid of immediate fulfillment." -Ravi Z Today I learned that gratitude and trust go together. Remembering from experience the goodness and wisdom of God in my life, I ought to remain grateful in everything and in all situations. In true gratitude, I am able to trust His ways no matter what situation arises, even i f things are currently not what i desire. I ask the Spirit to help me nurture a grateful heart.

Christian Quotes for the Week

Image From Ravi Zacharias Tragedy is the absence of God in the human experience. A child gives reason and emotion its due and still seeks for wonder. Wonder is that possession of the mind that enchants the emotions while never surrendering to reason. Wonder is a grasp on reality that does not need constant high points in order to be maintained, nor is it made vulnerable by the low points of life's struggles. Wonder sees the the ordinary in the extraordinary, and finds in the extraordinary the reaffirmations for what it already knows. Wonder interprets life through the eyes of eternity while enjoying the moment, but never lets the momentary vision exhaust the eternal. From Morpheo: Even in much pleasure, you cannot escape weariness.

Devotion: What We Should Take Pride In

But if any man has pride, let it be in this, that he understands and knows Me,that I am the Lord, who PRACTICES lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on the earth, for in these things I have DELIGHT,” says the Lord. Jeremiah 9:24 There are things in life people can take pride in and aim and hope to be proud of accomplishing or acquiring. Society executes its own standards for honor and recognition and the Christian who is not careful may find his heart and efforts spent on the wrong dreams and pursuits. God highlights ONE greatly important truth in this verse, that He as my Father will commend His child who pursues a true understanding and deeper knowledge of Him. God is a person, He is my Father. and He wants me to make this relationship THE AIM and PRIORITY. I pray for me and my family to put importance on this spiritual relationship most of all.
