A Joyful Heart Is How You Heal - Reflection on Proverbs 17:22

Scripture: “A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.” – Proverbs 17:22  We often underestimate how much our mindset affects our health. But long before science caught up, God’s Word already revealed a truth: joy heals. A cheerful heart doesn’t just make you feel good—it can literally help your body heal and thrive. Science Agrees with Scripture Studies confirm what Proverbs has long declared. Harvard Health notes that positive emotions can strengthen your immune system and reduce stress hormones. Mayo Clinic research shows laughter lowers blood pressure, improves oxygen intake, and releases endorphins—your body’s natural painkillers.  A study in Psychosomatic Medicine found that joyful people have a lower risk of heart disease and live longer. When you choose joy, you’re not ignoring life’s challenges—you’re building resilience. Your heart becomes medicine, not just for your spirit, but for your body too. Why Joy Is Spiritual Medicine ...

Psalm 128 on The Blessing of Obedience and God’s Promise of Peace

Psalm 128 is called a song of ascents. They say it's because they are traveling up, making their way up to Jerusalem when this Psalm was composed. A mediation and devotional on Psalm 128 lets us in on the feelings of God's people. There's a lifting of the spirit, a spiritual ascent likewise as you ponder on some truths they've shared in this chapter. Scripture Text Psalm 128 A song of ascents. How blessed is every one of the Lord’s loyal followers , each one wh o keeps his commands. 2 You will eat what you worked so hard to grow. You will be blessed and secure . 3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine in the inner rooms of your house; your children will be like olive branches, as they sit all around your table. 4 Yes indeed, the man w ho fears the Lord will be blessed in this way . 5 May the Lord bless you from Zion that you might see Jerusalem prosper all the days of your life 6 and that you might see your grandchildren. May Israel experience peace. The Blessing o...

Scripture Help for Your Anxious Teenage Daughter

Research reveals that more females deal with anxious thoughts compared to males. Results of a study conducted among high school students show that girl students struggle with anxiety more than boy students. Encourage your teenage daughter by sharing the following Scripture reflection for today: “Casting all your care upon him; for He careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:7) We all deal with anxious thoughts from time to time. At times, they pile up and make us feel weary and depressed. If you’re struggling with anxious thoughts today, know that you don’t have to carry the weight of the worry on your own. God invites you to release all your care upon Him today. That’s right. The Bible says, “Cast all your care [anxiety] upon Him; for He careth for you.” Let me encourage you to do 4 things with your anxiety today: 1. Release it. To cast your care is to literally throw it over. You unload yourself and let God handle your anxiety and worry. 2. Release it all . Every care matters to God. At times,...

Finding the One I Long For

Reading: Psalm 63 Marked: Verse 1 & 2- "O God, You are my God; with deepest longing I will seek You... Yes, I have seen You in the sanctuary,  and witnessed your power and splendor."  Meditation: The heart that longs to seek God will find Him responding. Traces of God's presence is seen everywhere, and, at all times. Sadly, the heart seems unable to perceive Him always. David, the king and songwriter pens this heartfelt song on one of his days of wandering in the desert of Judah. He shares that in the sanctuary God can be seen, His power and splendor can be witnessed. So, where is that sanctuary then? Where is that apartness or sacred consecrated place where I can stay still and watch God BE GOD and just worship Him? I must settle that place and I must settle the time, for that's where I need to be more often.

Devotional: The Israelites See the Difficulties and Not God

https://pixabay.com/users/splitshire-364019/ Numbers 13 Marked:   23 When they reached the Valley of Eshkol, they cut off a branch bearing a single cluster of grapes. Two of them carried it on a pole between them, along with some pomegranates and figs. 24 That place was called the Valley of Eshkol because of the cluster of grapes the Israelites cut off there. 25 At the end of forty days they returned from exploring the land. 27 They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. 28 But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there. 29 The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan.” 30 Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the lan...

Devotional: Miriam and Aaron Oppose Moses

https://pixabay.com/users/ekohernowo-1459122/ Passage: Numbers 12 Marked: 2 “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?” they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?” 6   “When there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams. 7   But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house. 8   With him I speak face to face , clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the Lord. 13 So Moses cried out to the Lord, “Please, God, heal her!” 15 So Miriam was confined outside the camp for seven days, and the people did not move on till she was brought back . Observations Mirriam and Aaron did not approve of Moses marrying a Cushite. Mirriam and Aaron believed they heard and communed with God just the same as Moses did. Moses was very humble, most humble in his day among men. God reveals himself by visions and dreams to prophets. Moses was faithful to God.God...
