Devotional: Faith Expressed

Galatians 5 talks about things that can sidetrack a believer from the right faith walk. Verse 7 says the wrong values and beliefs can prevent us from living in obedience to the Truth ("You were running [the race] well; who has interfered and prevented you from obeying the truth?")

Verse 6 says, "For [if we are] in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or uncircumcised, but only faith activated and expressed and working through love."

A life of faith is rightly demonstrated through love, right love.
If love prompts me, then there would be a careful desire to live authentic and right before God and man.

If love prompts me, then to see the mind of God and the things that pleases Him become most important than my faulty viewpoints and misplaced longings.

If love prompts me, I will be diligent in learning right principles from His Word and grow from ignorance, traditionalism, legalism, hypocrisy, and immaturity.

If love prompts me, then to be an encouragement and a right guide to my brothers become more important than fitting into the mold and wrong practices of this world.

Today, i pray for grace to live my faith expressed in true love.

When Did Church Become About Us?

When did  church and worship become centered around man? We sit during 'Sunday' (whatever day you have it) church and it’s become a program. Lots of noise and distraction. So many things happening. So many people talking. By the time we get to the message, the congregation is already tired from information overload and overstimulation. The message is the last one in, and it’s a sad thing that leaders feel the need to decorate Sunday worship with entertainment. Lots of announcements. Fun segments. Entertainment. Yes, connecting points. These are all important for fellowship. Just maybe not too many. And not one after another. Maybe, finish our main business first -  and that is to hear from God. And then after, we can hear from each other. Why is God’s voice often the last item? In a day and age when attention spans have shrunk so much, this is not a good thing. The Real Way to “Liven Up” Church Some leaders zero in on ways to liven up the church and come up with too...
