Devotional; True Worship

But a time is coming—and now is here—when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father SEEKS such people to be his worshipers. God is spirit, and the people who worship him MUST worship in spirit and truth. John 4:23,24

How do I really become and remain a true worshipper of my God, worshipping in spirit and truth? Though I may never fully grasp and practice what the phrase desires of me, I realize that to worship God in that way means it is not seasonal and it is never out of impulse. It does not rely on mood or emotion, it does not require compulsion, it does not need to be fueled by obligation or guilt. It is an anticipation and there is a sense of privilege. It is fueled by gratitude and there is a sense of knowing and experiencing the Person of this God I worship.

Today, I pray for maturity in the way I worship my Father.
