Let God Teach You How to Do Life
The human brain is capable of progressive learning. Our brains are continually learning and unlearning things everyday. In this age of widespread information and resource, our minds take in a lot of things day in and day out. We pick up new things, and, in the process, we may let go of some other things.
We exchange one principle for another. We replace wrong notions with correct ones (hopefully). And so our brain is truly amazing in that we always have potential to become more knowledgeable, accurate, mature, discerning, understanding, and broad-minded with each passing moment.
There is the danger of picking up the wrong things and replacing right principles with wrong ones. We see this happen all the time. People, God's People" letting go of their standards, convictions, and principles and replacing these with what's popular, publicly accpeted, or morally convenient.
Christiniaty, born from a relationship with the Father is a progression in life and being - from old to new, from one measure of maturity to another, from nothing to something, It is transformation and renewal. Positively and upwardly, we are called higher.
So the question becomes: who is teaching you?
Submit to God's Leadership
To progres, we need to come under the teaching of the Father and under the guidance of his leadership. Then we will learn the right means and the right way to live. We will discern the right paths to take, paths that are based on rightness and truth.
This means we go directly to the source. Don't just bank on what inspired people say. Go to the Inspired, Infallible, Inerrant Scriptures so we can learn the mind of Christ and put Him on. If we truly want wisdom, we will find it.
The Holy Spirit has assured us that He will be there to enlighten us. He will cause understanding. He will develop in us the wisdom we need.
And the clearest sign of real growth is this: you start wanting Christ more than anything else.
Make Christ the Prize
Philippians 3:14
Perseverance and continuance are needed. We also need to cast aside non-essentials—the non-important. Paul’s heart in Philippians 3 reveals his desire to know Christ, to gain Him, and to be found in Him, in His righteousness. For Paul, growing in the knowledge and understanding of his God is a gain. For a while, there seemed to have been a struggle in coming to terms with why God would choose to save him, and what he could do with himself now that he had encountered the God he persecuted. To know Him, to experience the power of His resurrection, to share in His sufferings, and to be like Him in His death—and so, to reach resurrection of the body. (How was Jesus in death? At peace. Trusting. No anger. Purposed.) Paul was in pursuit of God’s purpose for his life. He ran after Christ Himself. He discarded irrelevant things—things that did nothing for his pursuit. He zeroed in on the prize: the calling he had in Christ. This point of view is what we should take on. We should be teachable and sensitive so we can recognize the errors we need to correct, while also exercising diligence in keeping up with the developments and progress we have already reached. This means growing continually and not regressing.
Turn to God for Light
2 Corinthians 3
It is a given. When we turn to the Lord, there will be an uncovering, there will be revelation and understanding, a knowledge.
Where God is, there is freedom - freedom from uncertainty, from ignorance. We will see, we will behold.
We will discover Him. and the more we gaze upon His being, the more we will be changed to be like Him - in measure, in stages, in levels. It may be big leaps or small steps. Nevertheless, change will come, promised to us by the Spirit who frees.
And if we want that kind of clarity, we must handle His Word with care.
Handle the Word Carefully
2 Timothy 2:15 In dealing with important documents, transactions, and activities, due diligence is always required. Lawyers, in particular, have a legal and professional obligation to exercise due diligence, as life-changing decisions and outcomes are influenced by how faithfully they practice their profession. We understand diligence in the natural—now apply it spiritually.
In the same way, the Christian life and God’s Word require due diligence. The serious Christian who desires a life rightly changed by a new relationship with God in Christ will be diligent to present himself approved to God—a worker with nothing to be ashamed of, correctly “cutting” the Word of Truth. This life we now live—firstly, continually, and ultimately—is for God. If we are to desire one thing, it is this: to gain God’s approval over our lives and over how we handle His Word—the way we live it out, believe it, and teach it.
This is not a selfish desire on God's part. We benefit most in this kind of life. To know so many things but be ignorant of your God and His Word is a sad shame. We are blessed to freely access, hold, and open the Written Pages, where Christians before us were killed for it.
Scriptures are filled with timeless principles that make every earthly moment worth it. You can never go wrong if your aim is to live a life that pleases God. Because God is all about right and healthy living.
Our life is our teaching. People pick up on what we say and what we don’t say. They also interpret the Bible and Christianity through us. We can be brought to shame if we fail to speak, explain, and demonstrate its truths rightly, consistently, and sincerely.
Sincerely—because we cannot always be exact, and we will not always be right. Yet an authentic, spiritually driven life still teaches rightly. It speaks volumes when it does right, and even when it falters. In both, God is glorified. People will think of God and His ways because of you—who you are, what you do, what you don’t do, what you say, and what you don’t say. A life singularly aware that God is the reason and the pursuit, the means and the end, is a life approved by God—guided by God, blessed by God, protected, and cared for.
So leave no stone unturned. Study yourself - your thoughts, actions, and beliefs. Be aware of your motivations and intents. Correct and align yourself so that you may reach the "approval rating." Because this walk was never meant to stay at the starting line—it’s meant to mature.
Keep Growing
You start as a newborn babe in Christ, meant to grow up in your salvation, and purposed to teach and lead others as God has been teaching and leading you.
As days pass, God leads you on to new things. You are a new creation and everything is becoming new, always. We are transformed from measure to measure. We discern between the better and the best, not on the sidelines, but on the track. We realize the vast difference between right and wrong as we practice our faith - which is what it means to have a living faith (as opposed to what James calls - "Dead Faith")
2 Corinthians 5:17
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. All things are gone, the new has come.
1 Peter 2:2
Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,
