Devotional: The Meaning of Life

"Choose life that you and your offspring may live; loving the LORD your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days" -Moses If we are not careful, the meaning of life can totally evade us.we need to bear in mind the importance of connecting (and staying connected) with the Source and Sustainer of life first; and to keep Him above all other preoccupations, for it is God who pours meaning into our very existence.

Christian Quotes for the Week

Many times some retracting is needed before you will start to make progress. and just like missing an exit, you'd need to drive further distance before you can turn around to head in the right direction. Assuming privileges right from the beginning without first exercising the work ethic that they have resulted from is more hazardous for the individual than it is a blessing. In the 70s kids lost their love, they learned everything there was to know about sex and forgot everything there was to know about love and noone had the nerve to tell them there was a difference.

Devotional: God's Word

"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 3:18 If a Christian does not mature in his or her reading, then the Church could end up running the biggest nursery in the world. Ravi Z. The responsibility to grow in faith lies with me. I cannot just lean on Preachers, Teachers, and church gatherings for spiritual growth in knowledge and practice. I must value the Word of God and love it enough to open and really study its truths myself. I pray to have a heart hungry for God's Word.

Devotional: the Holy Spirit

"When the Spirit comes, He will guide you into ALL truth."- Christ "Walk in the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." -Galatians 5 "Flesh can never overcome flesh by pure desire alone." I need the Holy Spirit to guide me into all truth and to produce His fruit in my life so that I may be all that God created and purposed for me to be. Today I praise God, thankful that the Holy Spirit is not some force but a person Who walks alongside of me, leading me and working in me.

Devotional: Wisdom in time of Need

James 1:5 "If you lack wisdom, ask, and it will be given you." When I'm out of wisdom or when I feel I'm in the dark, the Holy Spirit is there to give wisdom and to guide me into all truth (John 16:13) This means, that I can know what I need to understand about Him and His Word. James 1:5 says I must ask in full trust and reliance and God will grant the wisdom that I need to understand and to make decisions that will not go against His Word. I like it that the verse says that when I come, God won't shame, ridicule, or think low of me for not knowing the things I don't know. He knows my limitations, He is not at all surprised so I don't need to hide nor make excuses. When I ask, He will be there to empower and equip me. Today, I pray for diligence and tenderness to come to God so I can grow from ignorance and immaturity.

Devotional: Faith Expressed

Galatians 5 talks about things that can sidetrack a believer from the right faith walk. Verse 7 says the wrong values and beliefs can prevent us from living in obedience to the Truth ("You were running [the race] well; who has interfered and prevented you from obeying the truth?") Verse 6 says, "For [if we are] in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or uncircumcised, but only faith activated and expressed and working through love." A life of faith is rightly demonstrated through love, right love. If love prompts me, then there would be a careful desire to live authentic and right before God and man. If love prompts me, then to see the mind of God and the things that pleases Him become most important than my faulty viewpoints and misplaced longings. If love prompts me, I will be diligent in learning right principles from His Word and grow from ignorance, traditionalism, legalism, hypocrisy, and immaturity. If love prompts me, then to be an encourag...

Devotional: Spirituality

“for it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.” Phil 2:13 We have to remember that By our own efforts we cannot produce a truly spiritual life.- Ravi Z. living a true spiritual life is never up to me. I cannot depend upon myself and i don't need to wait for personal inspiration before i get up and live the right kind of life. It is God who works in me. the only question is will I allow Him to work? If I really want to desire and do what pleases Him I must resolutely ask Him then let Him have His way with me. today,i pray for tenderness of heart, yielded and ready.
