Daily Christian Meditation | Stillness

 Daily Christian Meditation | Stillness

 He says,
"Be still*, and know** that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."
- Psalm 46:10

Meditation

More often than not, the hardest thing to do is to simply be still. Man is in a constant state of activity. Even when the body may not be moving, the brain is never at rest.

The psalmist is calling us to stillness. And stillness here, is not about the absence of movement or thought. The command is to yield, to let go of our control, and to allow ourselves to be weak. It is to stop taking charge.

And it doesn't end there, for the command is two-fold. We are to be still, and KNOW.  Not merely a superficial knowledge, but a sound understanding and a recognition of who God is: exalted, sovereign, all-capable. Noone can equal Him. He alone is FULLY in control.

Prayer

"Father, what a relief to know that you allow me to be weak. Forcing myself to be strong to thrive in this world is not the right way to do life.

In stillness, I find your strength enabling me. In knowing my God, I find security and peace in the understanding that I can rest in the truth of WHO You are and that You are able to do far above all that we ask or think.***

Place me in a posture of yieldedness and trust in You and in Your desires for my life. Amen.

Quote

"... the world does not rest on our shoulders." Dallas Willard

Why Am I Sleepy During the Day?

What's causing your eyes and brain to shut down during the day? Why can't you keep your eyes open just when you really need to get some work or reading done? If you’ve been asking yourself, “ Why am I sleepy during the day ?” or struggling with that mid-morning or afternoon crash, you’re not alone. Millions of people deal with daytime sleepiness that makes it hard to focus, stay productive, or even enjoy daily activities. The good news? Most causes are simple and fixable once you know what’s behind that drowsy feeling. Too Many Carbs – A Common Cause of Daytime Fatigue If you're not careful, you can over-consume carbohydrates. And when you're taking in more carbohydrates than you can burn, you will get sleepy. Dr. Libby says it's either because your insulin levels are high or you might be gluten intolerant. Eat pasta, bread, potatoes and rice in moderation and space them properly. Studies show that a meal high in refined carbs can spike your blood sugar, follow...

When Did Church Become About Us?

When did  church and worship become centered around man? We sit during 'Sunday' (whatever day you have it) church and it’s become a program. Lots of noise and distraction. So many things happening. So many people talking. By the time we get to the message, the congregation is already tired from information overload and overstimulation. The message is the last one in, and it’s a sad thing that leaders feel the need to decorate Sunday worship with entertainment. Lots of announcements. Fun segments. Entertainment. Yes, connecting points. These are all important for fellowship. Just maybe not too many. And not one after another. Maybe, finish our main business first -  and that is to hear from God. And then after, we can hear from each other. Why is God’s voice often the last item? In a day and age when attention spans have shrunk so much, this is not a good thing. The Real Way to “Liven Up” Church Some leaders zero in on ways to liven up the church and come up with too...
